Roy Shukrun

Roy is a doctoral student in the Department of Jewish Studies at McGill University. It studies Moroccan Jewish migration and transnational Moroccan Jewish networks in the 20th century, and focuses on understudied patterns of migration, such as return migration to Morocco and migration to and from the Negev Desert, as well as the community solidarity networks and postcolonial activism. He also completed his master's thesis at McGill, where he studied Moroccan Jewish migration and community activism in Montreal, analyzing the newspaper of the Sephardic community. Roy is currently on a research stay at the MALI Institute (Azrieli Center for Israel Studies) at BGU, where he is doing archival work, conducting interviews, and collaborating on a project studying global Moroccan Jewish networks.
